Privacy policy
We read the news for you; we do not read you. No reader accounts, no ads, no tracking.
What we do not do
- We do not ask you to create an account, and we do not know who you are.
- We use no analytics tools, and no cookies for tracking or advertising.
- We show no ads, sell no one’s data, and share none for marketing.
- We build no profile of your interests or of what you read.
Cookies
Reading the site sets no cookies of ours. Only our editors get a login cookie when they sign in to the admin.
The site runs behind Cloudflare for protection and speed. Cloudflare may set cookies that are strictly needed for security, such as checking that a visitor is not a harmful bot.
What passes through our servers
- Like any website, the servers receive your device’s IP address and browser type to deliver the page. Our servers keep no visit logs; technical error logs hold no reader profiles and are deleted within days.
- Cloudflare handles requests before they reach us, under its own privacy policy.
- Search terms are processed on our servers to find results; they are not stored against you or sent to anyone else.
- Pictures are usually shown through our servers. When that is not possible, your browser may load them from the publisher directly.
Links to publishers
When you open a report on its publisher’s site, you are on their site, and their privacy policy applies, not ours.
Requests you send us
If you send a request through the “Send a request” page, we keep what you wrote (name, email, organisation, links and message) only to handle and answer it, and delete it after twelve months at most. We do not keep your IP address, only a one-way hash of it to stop spam, deleted with the request.
You can ask to see, correct or delete this data from the same page.
Children
The site is meant for a general audience, not for children under 13, and we collect no data about them.
Changes
If what we do with data changes, we update this page and its date before the change takes effect.
