Syria has signed a $147 million agreement with Qatari firm Almohannadi for the rehabilitation and expansion of a 170-kilometer road connecting Damascus to the Iraqi border, aimed at enhancing transport infrastructure and regional trade. The project is expected to take 900 days and is part of a broader initiative to restore key routes, with the Syrian government allocating significant funds for road and railway improvements in its 2026 and 2027 budgets.
