Israel president says to announce Sunday who will form new government
Israeli President Isaac Herzog will announce on Sunday who will be tasked with forming a new government, following post-election consultations. A significant majority of parliament members recommended Gadi Eisenkot, while Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also received endorsements from his religious-nationalist allies. The unprecedented support from Arab parties, who won 19 seats in total, positions Eisenkot as a key contender to replace Netanyahu.
